Wakataka

Wakataka is a second-generation okonomiyaki restaurant with over 50 years of history. The shop has kept the same carefully crafted flavors since it first opened, serving Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki hot and crispy on teppan grills at every table. Their fruity, house-made sauce is especially popular among locals.
The restaurant is located on the 2nd and 3rd floors and is wheelchair accessible. Simply take the elevator up, sit back, and enjoy one of Hiroshima’s staple dishes in a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere. Vegetarian okonomiyaki is available on request, the staff is very friendly, and an English menu is available.
If it’s your first time trying Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki, this is a great introduction.

Gyouzaya ryu
Dumplings
About a 5-minute walk from the Peace Memorial Park
This Hiroshima-born gyoza spot is run by a long-established local dumpling maker, serving fresh, hand-made gyoza with thin wrappers and juicy fillings made from Seto-area pork and locally grown cabbage and garlic chives. The lively izakaya atmosphere makes it a great stop for casual bites or drinks after sightseeing, complete with a fun dice game that gives you a chance to win a free or mega-sized drink.
Orders are placed using a tablet, which is available in English. We recommend trying the okonomiyaki gyoza, a playful twist on two Hiroshima favorites. They also serve the Carp gyoza, officially approved by the city’s beloved baseball team.
Gaba ramen

About a 10-minute walk from the Peace Memorial Park
Gaba is a Hiroshima-born ramen shop known for its rich tonkotsu-based bowls, including the popular Aka-uma, finished with spicy miso and aromatic oil. They make their own noodles to match a carefully simmered broth, resulting in a deeply satisfying, comforting bowl that locals and visitors alike gravitate toward, especially on colder days.
Good for: a quick, filling meal after sightseeing, especially on colder days.

Andersen is a beloved Hiroshima bakery and café that has been serving freshly baked European-style breads, Danish pastries, sandwiches, and deli items since it opened in 1967. Created to bring joy to tables across the city, it draws on European baking traditions and local ingredients, and today the flagship store also offers café meals and a relaxed place to enjoy coffee, wine, and light dishes.
